Lyme Disease Toronto welcomes you aboard!

We would like to welcome you - but that seems kind of odd knowing that you are on this site for a reason like Lyme and its commonly associated diseases! Never the less you are here and you can now get down to business of finding the answers to your long unanswered questions.

In this web site we will try to be as simple and easy to understand as possible. Also we are a support group first and for most and we want to be here to help you get through all the tough times and the red tape of this illness! We have links that will help you find out if Lyme and its commonly associated diseases is the direction you should be looking in, and will try to post links to research and articles that will help further this investigation.

We try to hold monthly support group meetings and will post this under the 'Events' section of this site. At present, we are using a downtown Toronto location that is accessible both by subway and has parking available nearby. This location is fully accessible (i.e. for walkers; wheelchairs; etc.) and we ask that those in attendance regard it as fragrance-free.

Lyme and its commonly associated diseases can be a nasty thing. If left to nature it will not be kind to your well being. This is one of those instances where medicine is an absolute must - particularly when they are in their early stages. Even if it only is suspected to be Lyme, what harm could it be to anyone for a short course of antibiotics if it will repair a possible lifetime of grief?

Why are we here?

It was in early 2006 when a couple of our prominent members (known as Beatrix and Charolette ) who decided to see if a group like this would be of benefit to people locally. Well it turns out that there is more of a need than they expected. Since that inaugural meeting in June, some of the faces have changed but all in all, the group has steadily grown in numbers. This in its self is shocking since our healthcare professionals and governmental officials alike are still denying that Lyme and its commonly associated diseases even exists here in Ontario, and for the most part all of Canada. We know for a fact it is not only just here, it is exploding into numbers that will eventually scare the pants off of those who now only deny it!

In closing, there will come a day very soon that we won't have to fight like bulldogs to get this diseases looked after in a timely and orderly manner. Know this when we do fix this problem of recognition, diagnosis, treatment, and cure. There will likely always be another problem and misunderstood disease that will require the help of the community. So I suppose there will always be support groups to help out and do their part.
